Arts ~ Modernist Photography

Visit the world’s greatest private collections of photography. The works feature from the period of the 1920s through to the 1950s.

Portraits are compiled from artists including from my favourites: Matisse, Picasso, and Breton. Also, there are about 159 vintage prints by 70 other artists who are influential figures including Brassai,  André Kertész, Dorothea Lange and Aleksandr Rodchenko. Lastly, there’s a sneak peek of Elton John’s masterpieces in photography. The Radical Eye exhibition is on until 21 May 2017 at the Tate Modern in London.

Culture ~ St George’s Day

Tomorrow marks the anniversary of St. George’s Day celebrating the patron saint of England.

It’s our major feast and national holiday since the 15th century where citizens used to wear a rose on one of their lapels to honour the Roman Christian soldier, Saint George who slayed a dragon to save a princess as legend claims.

As if we need another excuse to drink but either way I’ve compiled a list of my top five for  British pubs to visit in New York.

1. Jones Wood Foundry is a warm and cozy food-driven pub with a diverse selection of British ales, bottled beers and a secret garden where you can gather with all your mates. Address: at 401 East 76th St. Hours: 11am-11pm.

2. Cock and Bull is the best British gastro pub with a variety of British inspired dishes and cocktails. Get ready to return home at this London style tavern. Address: 23 West 45th St. Hours: 10:30am-11pm.
