Music ~ EODM & Mastodon

What an experience in May. For me, music is what keeps me going, similar to most of you. Imagine three hours and a half hours of heavy riffs and amazing drum solos completely take over your mind and soul.

Eagles of Death Metal were truly amazing. The alternative rock band duo from California captivated the crowd with each song. And of course, Cherry Cola was one of them.

Then I still can’t believe I survived a heavy metal gig! Mastodon blew me away. Tracks including Blood And Thunder, Ember City and Show Yourself were my favourites. The collective headbanging and intense mosh pits were exciting enough for one to let loose and enjoy at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Clearly, I’m going to another concert soon.

Music ~ WALLS.

Hello Kings of Leon. The American rock band hailing from Nashville, Tennessee brought back their energy with their seventh studio album which feels much more real and alive than ever. Clearly, I’m falling in love with one of my favourite middle school bands all over again.

When the walls come down, there are chill chords and lovely lyrics that create this strong song. It’s one of those tracks that makes you think about the past, present and future for five minutes. Kings of Leon also announced 2017 tour dates as well. On 20 January, Madison Square Garden will rock. Get hype!

Music ~ Remembering The Ramones.

Happy times on Friday after visiting Hey! Ho! Let’s Go: The Ramones and The Birth of Punk exhibition at the Queens Museum. I had the pleasure of meeting and discussing the music scene with the former Ramones tour manager, Monte A. Melnick (photo below). Such a magical moment. All photos are my own. Check out the space soon as it closes at the end of July. The hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 11am-5pm.

Music ~ BØRNS

American indie pop musician, Garrett Borns known as BØRNS captured hearts with an amazing acoustic performance yesterday in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

If you were in the neighbourhood during the afternoon, it was a cool psychedelic atmosphere at Rough Trade NYC.

Fans queued to listen to the Michigan musician sing, get autographs and meet him. At one point, it felt like you were floating on a cloud and then swaying to the lyrics.

It was in November 2014 that BØRNS released his debut single 10,000 Emerald Pools with Interscope Records. From there by January 2015, his television appearances began which led to visiting Conan O’Brien and Seth Meyers on their late night shows.

Soon enough, my favourite tune Electric Love (shown above) was playing in most retail boutiques, car commercials and blasting from headphones in international destination cities including New York, London, Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Tokyo. Then last July 2015, he accompanied Charli XCX and Bleachers on their tour to gain exposure.

By August 2015, BØRNS released via social media his album Dopamine. The online presence accumulated a larger following with over 68,000 likes on Facebook, close to 46,000 followers on Twitter and nearly 55,000 Instagram fans.

Following that, he played at Life Is Beautiful festival in Las Vegas September 2015 as well as Austin City Limits in October 2015. Even all through the December holidays and into the New Year, BØRNS was also playing in Topshop creating an enjoyable shopping experience.

Now BØRNS is set to perform this spring at Coachella 2016. Get ready to dance Cali style!
